Brian Johnson is an affiliate professor of Education at Grand Valley State University (GVSU) and is
the director of the Grand Valley State University COMPASS program, which seeks to increase the number of underrepresented groups entering, and graduating from GVSU’s College of Education. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in curriculum development, child development, and field experiences.
Brian is a native of Flint, Michigan. He received a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and a Masters of Teaching in Early Childhood from Hampton University, and a Juris Doctorate Thomas M. Cooley Law School, with an emphasis in Constitutional Law and Civil Rights. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Washington State Bar Association. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Studies from Michigan State University.
