Seeds Center for Urban Social Entrepreneurship (SCUSE) is Seeds of Promise’s for-profit subsidiary that was formally launched on July 1, 2015.  The mission is to develop Seeds’ self-funding capability through two channels – 1) use creativity as its capital to transform market perceived wasting principles, processes, products, and people into prospering assets that can maximize market leverage; and 2) create profit through building profitable businesses that compete in the market’s production and distribution of goods and services.

  • SCUSE’s Strategy:
    • Empower Seeds residents and non-residents with great ideas to create, or expand profitable businesses.
    • Create a network of expertise that can be engaged on a project specific basis.
    • Provide an effective business incubator system and setting.
    • Use a shared benefit strategy to empower productive business partnerships.
    • Integrate a strategy that results in increasing Seeds self-sustainability.
    • Empower private sector partners to transform their social responsibility and philanthropy spending into four measurable outcomes:
      • Access to prospective employees who prepare themselves off-site and off-the-clock by solving the root causes of personal and neighborhood problems.
      • Cost-effective connections with loyal urban customers whose income is increasing.
      • Building re-investment capital through social enterprise investments.
      • Measurable social and sales impact.
